Metallica concerts in Czech Republic 1993-2014

Today will be about Metallica concerts in the Czech Republic. To date, Metallica has played eight concerts in this country. A few days ago after many years of searching I managed to get ticket from the band’s first concert in the Czech Republic, so now I have the whole set and it became possible to write this text.

The first concert in the Czech Republic took place in Brno in 1993 during the Nowehere Else to Roam Tour and as a support before Metallica played The Cult and Suicidal Tendencies instead of Alice in Chains (who was on the bill). It was also Metallica's only concert in this city. As a curiosity I will add that together with the ticket to the concert I managed to get a bus ticket on the route Liberec-Brno-Liberec with cool graphics. Can You imagine something like this nowadays …. the wonderful 90’s.

Concert and bus tickets

For the next concert of The Four Horsemen, the Czechs had to wait three years until Metallica visit Europe indoor arenas promoting Load album. In September 1996 the concert was held in Prague at Sportovni Hall (Sports Hall). Sadly, poster You see below the tickets is not mine (photo stolen from Carol from Metallica Rulez).

After another three years during Garage Inc. Tour Metallica again visited Prague at Atleticky Stadion Slavia Praha. Below You can see a nice big ticket, along a little flyer from this concert.

In 2004, during another European tour promoting St. Anger album Metallica performed in Prague     T-mobile Park. Below ticket, is photo of a big poster from the Prague concert from my collection.

In 2008 Metallica again visit the Atleticky Stadion Slavia Praha and performed with Machine Head and Gojira. Along with the ticket photo of the info flyer.

The BIG4 Tour that took place in 2010 did not miss the Czech Republic. Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax performed at the Milovice airport near Prague. Below ticket and flyer from this concert.

Another visit also in Prague took place two years later in 2012 when the band celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of the Black Album. Along with the ticket You can see photo of the flyer from the concert.

The last concert in the Czech Republic to date was a concert on the By Request Tour, where one of the supports was mighty Kvelertak, one of my favorite bands. Poster glued to the pole on the street of the Prague (no chance to bring it with me ….argghhhhh).

New shit in my collection #18

Time for new tickets in 2017. Traditionally, from the oldest to the newest.

The first ticket from the Damage Inc Tour during which Metallica performed as an Ozzy Osbourne support.

Unused ticket from the Wherever We May Roam 1991-92 Tour concert in Fresno.

Very special ticket from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where Metallica during the Billboard Music Awards made the only performance of The Unforgiven II. It is worth mentioning that a unique opportunity to hear the song for the second time was in 2014 during the By Request Tour in Prague but Unforgiven II lost the Vote of the Day Song instead St. Anger. To be honest, I myself voted for St. Anger \ m /.

Another ticket is special for me because it is from my third concert, which took place in my hometown Warsaw in 1999. Although I already had the ticket in my collection that this particular ticket is unused and came additionally with a special folder in the form of a program in which holders of VIP packages received their tickets. The whole set is a very nice souvenir from Warsaw concert.

Another ticket is from the first concert which was held in the new hall Centre Videotron in Quebec City in 2015.

The last of today's ticket is a rare ticket from promotional concert that Metallica played at London's House of Vans during the promotion of their new album Hardwired ... to Self-Destruct.

New Year's Eve with Metallica

In the history of their performances Metallica had some special evenings. There were, of course, more than a few, but the coming end of the year prompted me to check my collection and discovered that the band gave several concerts on the last day of the year. From a fan perspective, is there anything cooler than spend New Year's Eve and start the new year with Your favorite band (of course it is ... .four concerts at the Fillmore in 2011). When it turned out that I have all the tickets I thought it might be cool material on the blog.

The first of the New Year's concert in 1985 is also a very special concert for several reasons. Firstly, that night at Civic Center in San Francisco the band first played live Master of Puppets from forthcoming album, which was released in a few months. New Year's concerts performed by Metallica had (probably except one concert) first part of the concert before midnight followed by a countdown at midnight and then they continued the concert. Fuckin cool.

The second New Year's concerts took place in Japan in 1991. The event advertised as The Final Countdown 1991 out of Metallica as the headliner attended also bands like Europe (certainly played The Final Countdown;)), Tesla and Thunder. Unfortunately, I know nothing about whether the band like in 1985 divided the concert on the part before and after midnight, but considering that it was not only the performance of Metallica might not be.

Special program for New Year's Eve show

Looking at the program in the section on the Swedish band Europe invariably I cannot get over that bear the names of musicians: Joey, John, Mic ... and not, for example, Sigvard, Thor, Orvar or at least Ragnar;)) ... . but , they are just a hairmetal band ;).

After another five years, the band played in 1996 during the tour Load New Year's Eve in San Jose Arena, California.

The fourth New Year’s Eve concert was a famous Kickin 'in the new METlennium show in Detroit in 1999. Just before midnight there was live connection with New York Times Square and countdown from 10 to 0 to celebrate incoming new year 2000. One of the highlights of the show was when Metallica and Ted Nugent, Sevendust and Kid Rock played together on stage “Detroit Rock City”.

The last of the New Year's Eve concert was a concert in 2003 played by a band in Las Vegas at The Joint during Madly in Anger with the World Tour. Concert so much special that the band played it in a small club for just a couple hundreds of people. The special also because the nominal ticket price - $ 500 - which is probably to this day a record when it comes to ticket for Metallica concert (does not apply to the prices on the black market).

Happy New Year 2017

New shit in my collection #17

09-04-1986 – Ticket from US Master of Puppets Tour ’86 when Metallica supported Ozzy Osbourne.

18-06-1986 – Another ticket from Cliff era. Heard that Metallica show was cancelled for unknown reason. Don’t know if it’s true, any info will be appreciate.

24-11-1991 and 28-11-1991 – I hardly looking for any tickets from 1991. Those two are nice gems from US Indoor Wherever We May Roam Tour. Both in very nice condition. I’m really happy to finally get them …. just a few more to complete all 1991 year.

04-02-1997 - Nice “extended” version of US 1997 ticket. Most of those tickets after years are small stubs. This one has side parts still on place.

New shit in my collection #16

The first two tickets today, it was a real pain ass to get it but in the end both are in my collection. Besides ticket from Basel (which I'm still looking) those two tickets from Dortmund from summer Monsters of Rock 1991 Tour was the hardest to get.

Another ticket, which rarely appears on sale. I could not deny myself the pleasure;)

Ticket concert from Arras 2008, which was filmed for the DVD that was released in Metallica Box “Francais Pour Une Nuit”.

The last ticket today is a ticket from last year's Metallica Summer European tour concert in Gothenburg (Sweden).

Death Magnetic German Tour 2009

In the spring of 2009 Metallica came to Europe with a gigantic World Magnetic Tour with concerts in indoor arenas. After a series of concerts in the UK (which you can read on the blog  - Death Magnetic UK Tour 2009) Metallica came to Germany. German fans could never complain about the lack of Metallica concerts in their country. Metallica during each tour played in Germany several times. So it was in the spring of 2009 and Metallica played in Germany mini tour consisting of seven concerts between May 6 and 17.
• May 6th - Munchen, Olympiahalle,
• May 7th - Lepizig, Leipzig Arena,
• May 9th - Stuttgart, Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle,
• May 11th - Frankfurt Festhalle
• May 12th - Hamburg, Color Line Arena,
• May 16th - Oberhausen, Konig Pilsener Arena,
• May 17th - Koln, Lanxess Arena

When we add one more concert in Hockenheim on July 4th where band played under the sign of Sonisphere Festival it is clear that the German fans could not complain.
As for the tickets they were not particularly beautiful when it comes to design. Regular printing of Eventim, even without a graphic logo of Metallica. I’ve seen a nicer version (from concert in Stuttgart), but it is very difficult to find them. The fact that the tickets were not attractive appearance was in my opinion an impact on that people do not care about them. A large part of the concert tickets from that tour with whom I had to deal with was in a very bad condition (folded, crumpled, dirty etc..).
